Identification of Minerals... There Has to Be a Better Way

Very effective

This worked great! My students walked away from this lab with a much better understanding of the various ways to identify minerals. They were engaged in what they were doing and didn't just go through the motions, like they did in last years mineral lab. I made minor modifications to match the minerals available to me, but more or less stuck to the proposed plan. I highly recommend this lab.

Teaching Photosynthesis

Great starter.

I used this idea with my 7th graders. I eliminated some of the facts in order to simplify it a bit and created two "clues" that I gave to groups that were stuck. The students were more engaged once we discussed the specifics of photosynthesis because they wanted to see if they were "right". I recommend this.
