Sound All Around

I am reviewing the free teacher's sample guide for this ebook. As I was looking through the guide, I found many strengths and weaknesses. One strength is that this guide includes many scholarly references from popular authors to ensure the content is aligned to educational principles. Another strength is that there are many educational disciplines involved such as physics, chemistry, and biology. All of these areas are interconnected and that is easily reflected in this guide. In this guide something that is also reflected is the concept of project-based learning. This is crucial for student learning and development, and a couple opportunities students get with this book are labs and simulations. As with any resource, there are areas for improvement. One area that can be improved is making the course more localized. The content is based on a wide range of one topic, whereas it could be more beneficial and relatable is students knew how their lives are affected, in this case, why does sound matter in my school? My life? My community? There isn't a big focus on alignment to core curriculum, so maybe integrating standards more could show students how important the concept is that is being taught. Overall, this teacher's guide provides a great framework for teachers who are looking to teach with this ebook resource.
