If a student was absent for an excused reason then she would allow the student to come in either before or after school to make up the lab within a weeks time. Sarah, I completely agree with what you are saying! Science is not a subject that many people love or think that they can successfully do, so it is hard to get people (parents) to engage in science if they do not have to. Okay Way to Teach about Animals

I thought that this article was good at teaching information about animals, not great. I did enjoy the table included that helped to identify different classification of animals. I really enjoyed how the article wrote about different perspectives from the teachers point of view to the students. I think it is a great tool in understanding the way the students are thinking and receiving information that educators are presenting to them. I think that this article would be better if it gave more of a way to use this information as in activity ideas or something along those lines.

Great Weather Article

This was a great article relating to the topic of weather. It gave a great activity of blogging about the weather which is a good way to incorporate information into the lesson as well as utilizing technology as well. I really enjoyed how it also gave information about other aspects of weather as in clouds to give the teacher and students more information that they can include in their blog. Having the students be forecasters is a great way to have them present their understandings in a fun way that does not seem super stressful.
