Integrating indoors and outdoors

This article shows some of the difficulties for beginning a school garden, while offering resources and ideas fro working through those difficulties. I especially liked asking parents for seed volunteers, along with beginning the seeds indoors during the winter before spring arrived. Students had a variety of seeds, including herbs, flowers, and vegetables. The gardening resources would be helpful to any teacher beginning an outdoor garden. The teacher also touched on the expectations for the students, along with collaborating with cafeteria workers since the garden would be near one of their entrances. Finally, the teachers lists how she merged the garden with deeper learning, inspiring all teachers to do the same with their own classes.

Energy Collection

This collection is a great collection for teachers teaching force and motion. I especially liked the formative assessment probe resource, because of the pre-assessment probes available to use within your own classroom. These resources are geared toward meeting the needs of a variety of learners, and it is perfect for elementary-level teachers. The Daily Do lesson is a great resource to add to your lesson plans. I would definitely recommend looking through and using these resources.

Quality 5E Lesson Plan

This is a great resource, offering ideas to teachers that follow the 5E lesson plan format. It connects to a read aloud, brings in content-specific vocabulary, and it allows students time to explore sound and vibration. The first part is for K-2, while the last is for 3-5, so it benefits all elementary teachers. It would be easy to differentiate for your specific classroom needs, and the materials needed are few and easy to obtain. Definitely worth a read.
