From reading the interactive book, Flow of Matter and Energy in Ecosystems (attached for you to view), I relearned so much about ecosystems, matter, and energy. It had several interesting experiements, some involving studying and creating an ecosystem. It mentioned EcoSpheres, which can be purchased online. EcoSpheres are contained and sealed ecosystems that can survive without any outside...

I was the same way in elementary school. I did not like science because we really only read from our text book instead of doing any hands on learning.
One discrepent event that I came across was the "Magic String." It allows students to think outside the box to try to figure out how the experiement works. I've attached the NSTA journal article about this experiment for you to vie...
Sun, Mar 07, 2021 3:20 PM in Assessing Science Knowledge of ESL Students
Hello everyone! I'm Erin, and I'm getting my Master's degree in Elementary Education and English as a Second Language. I'm not yet a teacher, but I was curious to know from current elementary or middle school teachers:

Sun, Mar 07, 2021 3:02 PM Extremely Helpful for Gaining Prior Knowledge!
I really enjoyed reading this interactive book! The information that was covered was explained in a way that was easy to understand and retain. Because I enjoy learning with hands on activities, the interactive lessons were helpful for me to learn about the concepts being taught without becoming bored. I also loved that there were many detailed lesson ideas, lesson plans, and science experiments provided throughout the book that could be used in the classroom to help students gain better knowledge about ecosystems, matter, and energy. When reading books online, I enjoy having access to a voice reader, which I feel helps me to retain information better, and the one included for this book worked fairly well. There were a few pages towards the end of the book in the Pedagogical section, where the voice reader did not work, however, for the bulk of the book it worked really well. I did feel that it was a little robotic, and would have been nice to have an actual narrator, however, this voice reader did its job well. I also enjoyed the quizzes given throughout the sections and at the end of the chapters. I was hoping to find a general link to the quizzes that I had completed so that I could go back and review them along with any information that I may have misunderstood. I did not see anything like this while reading this interactive book other than just being able to go back to retake the section quizzes. Overall, I really enjoyed reading and learning from this interactive book! I would highly recommend it!
