Using Physics Gadgets and Gizmos, Grades 9-12: Phenomenon-Based Learning (e-Book)
Sat, Apr 26, 2014 5:20 PM Great Source for Ideas
This book just looked like so much fun that I had to purchase it and I wasn't disappointed. It includes over 50 different gadgets and gizmos, as they call them, organized around 7 physical concepts. Each one comes with questions that students should think about and each set includes the Next Generation Science Standards that that activity deals with. All the of the gadgets are readily available from a scientific supply catalog or Amazon at a reasonable cost. This book will motivate you to expand and use your science toy collection!

Students need not only to be able to interpret graphs, but to find a good way to present that data. The use of infographics allow students to be creative as well.

The authors give a good argument for the importance of preassessment in the identification of misconceptions among students. Their examples of effective preassessment questions are good ones. Good read.
