As a new teacher, how do you handle managing your time? I feel as though the lessons I plan work great on paper. However when I go about teaching, the lesson is either too short, or I run out of time and get to everything I want to cover.

I have seen a few classrooms where using ipads to do exploration and used in lessons. I'm a little worried that using technologies like that in some classrooms can be distracting. I feel like there's a possibility children will focus more on the fact that they get to play on the ipad then actually learning concepts that the lesson is going trying to teach them. When doing experiements in your classroom, how do keep the class learning and having fun,while still keeping order in the classroom? I really want to encourage collaboration and a lot of inquiry in the classroom, but I'm also afraid that the class can easily get out of hang and off task.

Sizing up the Solar System: review

I found this source to be incredibly helpful for a soon to be teacher. With such a vast topic as the solar system, I am wary about creating different ways to teach my children about the broad topic of space. Models have always been a way that I would think to approach teaching the solar system, but learning what models would be appropriate is soemthing I didn't really look into. This article makes it much easier for me to evaluate and choose a proper space model that my students can understand and learn from.

And Then their were 8: Review

As a student who grew up learning that their were nine planets instead of eight, I sometimes catch myself still telling people Pluto is a planet. What I really liked about this source is that it explained the incredibly foreign concept of dwarf planet to me. I feel much more confident now that I can explain why Pluto is no longer a planet and also what dwarf planets are.
