Argument-Driven Inquiry in Life Science: Lab Investigations for Grades 6-8

Valuable resource
I have been using this resource with my 6th grade scientists for the last year and a half. I love it. Let me preface this review though with the caution that ADI is a challenging process for 6th graders. I do find myself needing to scaffold the investigation report process so that all of my students, regardless of ability, can respond to the prompt at the level of rigor encouraged by ADI. I was fortunate to attend an ADI training at an NSTA conference a few years ago which was beneficial for helping me navigate this resource. The process of ADI bundles all of the skills I want my students to develop (asking questions, designing investigations, analyzing data, arguing from evidence, etc.) into a single learning experience. This process is time consuming and realistically I can only complete 4-5 of these experiences with my students in a given year due to the number of standards I need to cover. Those few experiences however are valuable as the entire ADI process encourages students to be stronger scientific thinkers and writers.
