Rocks Review

The importance behind this SciGuide is to give the readers the opportunity to explore the world of rocks and where they came from. Although rocks are non-living they have many stories to tell and rocks helps scientists understand the world millions of years ago. The guide is broken down into 3 important sections: Formation of Rocks, History of Rocks & Soil. The reader is able to learn about the rock cycle and what happens to rocks which cause them to change. Rocks help us to compare our planet to other planets because it helps us to see what materials are in each rock and what organisms may have possibly lived there. Finally there are great activities, videos and interactive websites that encourage students to explore rocks and answers some of the misconceptions about rocks.

Review of Red Planet SciGuide

This sciguide gives you a closer look at what is possible going on or what has been happening on Mars. For many, Mars is a mystery but due to technology we have been able to explore the planet with the help of our two explorer rovers, Opportunity and Spirit. In order for us to get a better idea of whether life existed or currently exists on Mars, we must first look at Earth and compare the two. Although this sciguide focuses much on Mars, it allows us to dig deeper and learn more about Earth too. Explore the various activities and information to discover the past and possible present life on Mars. Did life ever exist there and what evidence have they found to prove that? This sciguide can help answer some of these questions.

The importance behind this SciGuide is for students to stop and think about how Earth is being affected in everything we do. They need to be aware of what steps they can take to help preserve and take care of this planet. If they don't take care of it, then they will be the ones suffering in the future. Making good decisions about what we do in our everyday lives in critical to every organisms future. This sciguide looks at 3 key components; Addressing Resource Use, Environment as a System and Environmental Degredation. They break these sections down and focus on the key components/main ideas of what we can do to make a difference. If we don't focus on making positive changes now, then we will all suffer in the end. This SciGuide can help to change our thinking about this topic.
