Formative Assessment Probes: Pushes and Pulls

Pushes and Pulls
As a student teacher preparing a science unit, I found this article to be extremely helpful. It provided me with great knowledge and examples on how to introduce the concept of force. I am now aware of the complexity of this term and the misconceptions students may have. I especially liked how the author provided strategies that will help me to unlock my student's prior knowledge. This will allow me to address any misconceptions as I teach. I also enjoyed reading about the formative assessment probes. I realized that I can learn a great deal of information about my student's ideas in relation to the Core Ideas by using such assessments. This article has given me the knowledge and confidence to teach about forces. I intend to use this information as i prepare my science unit.
