Something that may be helpful to get parents involved is to do a homework choice chart. There are plenty of different layouts and designs out there for these. You could even create your own if you are feeling adventurous. The one that your question brought to my mind is a STEM activity chart. It would be a whole month at a time on one chart. Each week may have 5 activities and the directions say ...

Hello Amy!
As a daughter of a kindergarten teacher, I have gotten to have quite a bit of exposure to kindergarten. In her classroom, she has found that immediate consequences and the utilization of practicing correct behavior are the best tactics to use. Something that doesn't work as well for kindergarten is a complex behavior chart. In older grades, students can be given more respo...

The Station Approach Review
This article shares a similar method to reading groups which are found in the younger grade levels. This article brings up the idea of groups for all grades and doing them with science content. In this article they solve their resource shortage by instructing students in a group format. In these groups the article mentions that the individuals should have roles and that these groups create just as quality learning as whole group instruction does. Overall this is a great article and makes the task of groups not seem so daunting.

3D Pit Stop Printing
This is a wonderful article with such an in depth project within it. This project is well depicted in 2 stages and split into the course of 17 lessons. I personally would do this in my classroom. There are tons of wonderful pieces of knowledge that students can gain from this project.

Dig Deeply Review
I really enjoyed this article and how it really got students into the school garden as scientists. Not only were there examples of what to have the students do in their role as the scientists but there were also examples of handouts and students work. Being able to see real student outcomes here through illustrations and images definitely impacted my review positively, Overall this is a great article and it is full of helpful ideas to get your students into the garden.
