Hi! My name is Jamie Winterbotham and I am a senior at Wright State University. I am currently majoring in Early Childhood Education and will be doing my student teaching next fall. I am placed in a 1st grade classroom at Northmont City Schools and am loving it! I love teaching science because it allows students to discover new things and explore the world around them. I'm excited to learn new ways of both learning and teaching science in order to better the students that I am working with.

"Re-Inventing" Science Instruction: Inquiry-Based Instruction in a Fifth/Sixth-Grade Classroom
Thu, May 23, 2019 1:13 PM The Importance of Teaching Science
Science is taught less and less in elementary classrooms across the country. More instructional time is spent covering subjects such as math, reading, and writing. I love how this book chapter talks about the importance of teachers changing their teaching styles in order to become more confident in their teaching practices. Science is an important subject and students come in contact with concepts of science each and everyday. Teachers must implement science instruction in their classrooms in order to help meet their students academic needs.
