A Week for Space
As soon as I opened up the article to skim through it to see if I would like to put it in my collection, I loved it. The main thing that caught my eye about this article was that it was a huge team effort from the teachers of all grade levels. The introduction of the article mentions how all grade level teachers are concerned about extending the grade level focus of space science for their students. Reading the time it took these teachers to come up with great lessons to really help their students made me feel encouraged and inspired to be like them with my future students. I learned that all subjects are important and that with great effort so many lessons can be taught in one. For one lesson where the students have to record what happens to the water if it's left in the sun, not only required students to read thermometers, but also use their writing skills to journal their observations. I would use TEKS 1.8 or 2.8 for my younger students. Teaching them with hands on and walk through experiments would help my students really grasp what is going on. I agree with the format that the teachers used to have many lessons specific for each grade, but I would have liked to do a lesson a day that is similar for each grade level. For example, Monday would be all about Energy, Tuesday would be all about living organisms, and so on. Overall I got some really great lesson plan ideas for my future students!
