I think it is great to include as many strategies to get students excited about science as possible. Why should science be something big and scary when in fact it can be exciting and fun. Thanks for responding everyone. I know that while many do not celebrate Halloween I have trouble seeing the bad part of doing an activity or two. I can understand not doing an entire lesson. Things like Halloween Easter and Christmas should be able to be mentioned with out everyone freaking out, just as other Holidays are mentioned. While being a substitute I have had a variety of experiences. Everything from highly detailed lessons to I come in an have nothing and the teacher next door is scrambling to try to help me have something to do with the students.
