Journal Assessing
This article discussed the process of assessing students' science journals. The article provided excellent examples of students' work. As mentioned, it is important that we determine prior to assessing if we will be assessing the students' reflection of the science activity or their understanding of a science concept. The article did a great job of explaining that a science journal is a teacher's guide to children's understanding and diagnostic tool for informing practice. An excellent read to encourage and explain the use of science journals in the early elementary science classroom.
