Hi Veronica, Sounds like your students really enjoyed your lesson! I loved hands-on projects because you can really see how interested they are in the learning when they actually get to dive in. Once you let go of the notion that learning has to be clean and quiet...you can open so many avenues for learning. Here's to many more messy experiments in your future! :) Annie

I find that I rarely have time to observe and talk with other teachers at my school and I so appreciate your taking the time to share ideas here. Hi, I taught a Nutrition unit last year and used the USDA MyPyramnd.gov website for some good ideas. We (kindergarten) played an interactive game on the projector which got them all really engaged and excited about choosing healthy foods. When I taught the unit, it was still a pyramid...and now with the new Plate design, I'm sure there are some great new ideas too. I too agree that this is such...

Resources and Human Impact

The Resources and Human Impact SciGuide is organized in themes: Addressing Resource Use, Environment as a System, and Environmental Degredation. Each theme has websites, activities, and lesson plan ideas to help teachers show the day to day impact their students decisions make on the environment. Teachers have the responsibility to share information about the Earth’s resources and the preservation of our planet with their students. Many young children think of recycling as the way they help the environment. This SciGuide has so many different ways to connect responsible use of water, land, air, resources to a student’s daily living. I will use many of the suggested links as interactive tools and hands on learning to enhance my lessons.
