Hi Everybody - I hope this is an OK venue for sharing this information. I have seen a lot of posts from teachers concerned about integrating STEM into the K-8 classroom, and especially accessing activities that are aligned to NGSS. I thought this might help.

Hi - one of our Montana State University graduate students created a classroom activity on this topic. Out here in the Rocky Mountains, the kids understand elk, so depending on where you live, you may have to modify that part.
It is called Scat, Transects and Changing of the Seasons . She did this activity with 4th, 5th and 6th graders.
