    "Learning About the Ozone"

In this collection you will read about the zone, and the environment we survive in. You will read about the ozone layer or ozone shield, as that is what the region of Earth's stratosphere that absorbs most of the Sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation is called. It contains high concentrations of ozone (O3) relative to other parts of the atmosphere, although still very small relative to other gases in the stratosphere. The ozone layer is mainly found in the lower portion of the stratosphere, from 12 to 19 miles above Earth, though the thickness varies seasonally and geographically. Today, there is widespread concern that the ozone layer is deteriorating due to the release of pollution containing the chemicals chlorine and bromine. Such deterioration allows large amounts of ultraviolet B rays to reach Earth, which can cause skin cancer and cataracts in humans and harm animals as well.
