A chemisty experient that you can do with elementary school students is magic milk, alka seltzer rockets, color changing slime, discovery bottles, fireworks in a jar, the naked egg experiment, student made thermometers, and much more. The great thing about these experiments is that you can reuse most materials!

Talking about the changes in particals can be complex for first graders. But I feel like since you already introduced changes in heat, you should let them know how the Hersheys kiss melted.
