As a student, I did a scavenger hunt. I would assess students with a scavenger hunt to test your students' understanding of science terms and apply these terms to real-world objects. Or getting parents and/or guardians involved to help perform an experiment consisting of the scientific method. Depending on the grade level will depend on the difficulty of the experiment.

I agree with Jamison, science is most definitely more beneficial if there are hands-on assessments along with problem-based learning. I personally do not learn from just writing and taking a test. I personally was never a fan of chemistry. However, when I got to college, I took chemistry and realized that more hands-on activities and watching some videos on youtube to further my knowledge helped me a lot.
