I love that you have an interest in this! I've done some research on this topic and have learned that a lot of disinterest from female students come from a variety of things. There are things that a educator can do like refrain from using he pronouns solely when talking about STEM Professionals. Engineering Encounters: How to Develop an Engineering Design Task

Great article when looking to develop an engineering unit or lesson. The only thing I wished this article included was a practical application to the traditional concept of engineering more linked with technology (but this is my personal preference). Overall, it did a great job of leading me through the steps and telling me what to consider!
