I am a student at UMBC and we have been discussing ways to incorporate science into a students environment in informal ways. Some things my class and I were able to come up with was:
Play music about science
Have plants growing in your classroom
Place poster on the walls that ask scientific questions

When I recently attended the NSTA conference in New Orleans I was struck by how much technology many classrooms were using. I teach in a very rural area and they don't have access to computers in their homes or a nearby library. School is the only access to technology for many of my students. Writing in Science is a huge statement. What do mean when we talk about writing in science? How about we try to identify all the different types of writing we can do in science? Then maybe we can talk in more details about some of the specific pieces.
