Great ideas for classroom
Though somewhat dated (i.e. old National Science Education Standards listed within), this article offers many concrete, easily implemented classroom ideas for teaching students about interdependence of life. The author offers several exploratory-phase introductions to this topic, from ladybugs living in weeds to children's family dynamics to class pets, making the ideas applicable for a variety of classroom contexts. This article shows the many opportunities to take biology studies outside the classroom walls, exploring the dynamics of nature and living creatures that exist all around us and our students. It's a great reminder to not forget the opportunities that exist in simple, accessible things like grass and plants on the playground!
