Feed up, feedback and feed forward

I found this article very useful and I can see myself using these three phases of inquiry within my own classroom. Great article on assessment! Feed up invites the students to join the inquiry process by getting involved with the activity. Feedback needs to be timely and it lets the students know how they are doing and scaffolds their understanding. Feed forward helps the teacher determines what comes next.

Claims, Evidence, and Reasoning

I found this article to be very helpful because it does a great job of explaining in great detail how to teach claims, evidence and reasoning. I like that the authors provided examples of each step of the process and how to assess the students' claims, evidence and reasoning to evaluate their understanding on how to write scientifically. I think this is a great way to implement writing into Science and I can see myself using this within my own classroom!

A Standards-Based Science Fair

Revamped Science Fair

I like that the idea of a Standards based Science fair has students competing against the standards and not each other. I think that this will make the actual projects more child centered and not parent centered. I find it useful that the article gives a sample rubric that teachers can use and adapt for their own science fairs.
