Efficient analysis with sample lesson
This article gave an effective evaluation of common science teaching practices as it pertains to Chemistry. “Teaching chemistry at the symbolic level first inhibits students’ conceptual understanding of chemistry.” This statement also embodies a problem that many college underclassmen experience when they enter General and Organic Chemistry classes. Their suggestion to use model-based instruction to guide the three levels of understanding stated in the article echoes many recent changes to how teachers are changing the way they present their STEM-based classes. I also appreciate the inclusion of a sample lesson using the 5 E-learning cycle. Thank you for this great resource!
