Legos and STEM
Legos are relatively inexpensive and children enjoy putting them together and making something of their own. In this article, the author discusses the benefits of using Legos in the classroom through collaboration with peers and designing a device that is able to cross the Amazon River. Students use math to think critically and discuss the length of the river and how far and fast their device would need to travel in order to cross the river. Students engage in authentic learning through STEM activities through the use of Legos and help students design and collaborate with their peers to understand different viewpoints and transform student learning.

The Importance of Student-Generated Questioning
This article provides useful information on how giving students time to ask questions before introducing the performance task will generate more discussion about the topic. Instead of teacher-created questions, have students think of questions that help them develop skills that align with scientists and engineers. Once the class has an opportunity to discuss their questions and compare their results. Saving this in my library to remember as a future teacher on how to engage in a student-generated science lesson.

Understanding Thunderstorms
Thunderstorms either excite people or scare them entirely. This article provides information on cloud formation and types of thunderstorms and how they develop in different stages. The author provides multiple hands-on experiments for students to make sense of thunderstorms and understand what conditions will result in different types of storms. Each demonstration is relatively inexpensive to engage students with a visual representation and with each demonstration, students are able to apply what they learned and relate it to real-world experiences by understanding cloud formation and natural processes that create thunderstorms.
