I am a second year teacher still pursuing a Master's degree. This year I am teaching 7th grade mathematics at Athens ISD. Outside of teaching and school, I am a mother of 4 and a wife to my very best friend. I don't have a lot of spare time, but I do love to garden and read when I have a free moment.

I don't know what age group this is for, but my son's 2nd grade class goes to a local game reserve every year and explores the reserve. They explore the reserve. They look for wildlife, collect leaves and look at the different trees, take a tour, and eat lunch there. It is just a couple miles from their school and is an all day field trip for students. I have recently created several STEM lessons. One of the problems that I have with them is timing them correctly with my students. Sun, Nov 24, 2019 11:13 PM Late-Start Mondays
This book chapter focuses on the need for professional learning communities (PLC) in schools. It discusses one school and how it implemented PLC every Monday by starting school 75 later than normal. The school showed improvement in student achievement during the time that the PLC was put into place. The book chapter is not really specific in the overall impact of the PLC and how it directly impacted the students. However, PLC is a great tool for educators. Teachers need to be constantly learning and continuing to improve their own practice. The book chapter does point out that teachers want to learn from other teachers. It is easier to take advice from someone that you know understands exactly what you are dealing with. This is a great program and I would like to see more long term effects from it.
