This collection contains a set of resources that can be used to teach elementary students (specifically 5th grade) about forces and motion. The collection contains articles describing the 5E inquiry model, methods for enabling productive talk in the classroom, a sci-pack detailing Newton's 3 Laws of Motion, and sample lesson plans and activities relating to forces and motion.

Ms. Rojas Presents: The States Of Matter

Within this collection, you will find various resources for teaching lower elementary students about the three states of matter. What are solids, liquids, and gasses? What are their properties? How do they change form? This collection includes a video example of the melting process which can be used to introduce a lesson, various journal articles detailing sample lesson activities and teaching strategies, and book chapters explaining the basics that your students should know about the three states of matter!

Water as Matter: Properties and Uses Collection

Excellent collection of resources!

Hi Annette! I absolutely love this collection that you've put together about the properties of matter and water! Last semester, I actually wrote and taught a lesson on this topic, and there are a lot of resources in your collection that I wish I would've known about back then! I really like that you included a variety of different types of resources for teachers to use in their classrooms such as the podcast, book chapters, and journal articles that include sample lesson plans and ideas for teaching this topic. I actually browsed through the resources in your collection, and my favorite was the water wheel challenge. I appreciate the fact that you made sure to include sample lessons that follow the 5E models of inquiry and focus on engaging students in engineering practices. I could definitely see myself doing the water wheel investigation in my future classroom! The book chapters and articles were also very helpful because they provide a great overview of the concepts of matter and water, which would be helpful for any teacher who is trying to gather information to construct an inquiry lesson on this topic. Overall, great job on this collection!

Animals, How They Get Their Energy, & The Food Chain Collection

Hello Natalie! I was very impressed by your collection; you chose an excellent group of teaching resources that even I could see myself using in the future for a lesson on animals or the food chain! The book chapter that includes the Animal Walk activity is an amazing resource for educators. It has a very large variety of different sample lessons and engaging activities for young students. This definitively makes it easier for teachers to find creative ways to present their students with inquiry lessons that will help them reach their science standards. I also liked the Discovering Diversity and The Sun’s Energy journal articles because they not only provide sample lessons for younger elementary students, but they also give resources for the upper elementary grades. This is perfect because the topic of animals, energy, and the food chain is something that is taught in all grade levels. The Interdependence of Life was also a great choice to add because it appeals more to the middle school grades and can even be used for high school. The visuals and picture examples that are used in the book chapters are also a good tool to use for visual learners. Overall, this collection matches perfectly with your science topic; great job!
