I’m student teaching in second grade this year! My youngest brother is attending first grade at the same school! I have two cats that I love with all of my heart, Tomo and Ophelia. I also live with my boyfriend of 6 years, Kyle!

Hi! So one thing that I love to do is write letters to the parents throughout the year. I send letters home in the beginning, middle, and end of the year. I write about how their students are doing, how they are behaving, and how they are helping me grow as an educator. I am also looking into more ways of getting parents involved!

Building an Interest in Science

This article was really interesting to read and got me thinking about how to build an interest in science and build upon that in the classroom . This shows how different 'levels' of teachers can build the interest in growing pumpkins and working on creative lessons. It also talked about how to involve our community in a lesson like this. Maybe local farms or stores could donate pumpkins to classrooms for students to explore.

Classroom Management

This was incredibly beneficial to read as I was working on creating a science lesson for second graders. We typically do not have a set time for science lessons or long science lessons, so I was a little worried as to how it would work. Thankfully, the article was helpful and gave me many ways to be comfortable in my classroom management skills.

This resource was beneficial to read while I was creating a lesson for my second grade students. It helped me think about the ways that I wanted to assess them and it helped me figure out what I wanted to touch on in the lesson.
