I am a mother of 4 and a wife of 18yrs. I have been the assistance dance director/instructor of Heights Elite Dance Studio for 10yrs and I absolutely love teaching!! I currently am working on my Special Ed degree with a minor in Spanish.

Hi Heather! I wouldn't get down on yourself on this matter. There is always going to be students out there that don't think you like them. I've noticed especially the ones who have discipline issues and you are the one who "cracks" down on their behaviors are the ones who feel this way. They will learn to love you in a respectful way if you continue to do the same for them. =) Good luck!

I thought this was a great video for us soon-to-be teachers! I loved and was very stimulated in a good way at all the creativity and ideas in the classrooms. I agree that the teachers intention of how the room will look may certainly look different after getting to know your class. I liked the idea of hanging a different bug above each table then incorporating the same picture as labels on differe...

healthy snacking

This is an article I will definitely be sharing with others! For the most part the more involved the children are such as the idea of them being the chefs and being able to share their recipes with other classmates and their families the more likely they will choose healthier eating habits!

I'm not sure why my last review didn't post but I'm going to give it another shot. I thought this article had a lot of cute ideas and responses from her students. It just goes to show how science starts at such a young age. From infants "observing" and recognizing their environment to preschoolers mixing colors to kindergartners recording data and so on! Fun article with great ideas.

Dress-up time!

This was a fun article to read! It's always great to have a simple guideline to follow when trying to figure out what to wear. Showing professionalism is a great way to show the students "who the boss is" but on the other hand having the casual days shows your students that you can also have fun while learning! My son's teacher does this and really gets into it when it's a fun dress-up day! It brings out a great character but at the same time his students focus on him when he speaks!=)
