Thank you for starting this thread! I teach Physical Science, and for most of my students, the semester on Chemistry is pretty much their first introduction to atoms, the Periodic Table, and bonding. It is very, very hard for them to conceptualize at first.

Wow, Mary! What a great lesson. So, so relevant for our students here in Hawaii, as hopefully they will one day participate in making important decisions about energy. I tried the interactive notebook last year, but I had a really hard time getting my students to keep up with it. In general, those who kept up with it were the ones that needed it the least, while the students who needed it most wouldn't do it. I do think it is a good idea, I have a colleague who has had a lot of success. He has them include all notes, msjor assignments, and labs. If I try it ...
