Stephanie, you use the same word I do, too: to pull the science from the story. I think the Berenstain Bears is a great series for this because there are so many activities they're involved in.

Which little pig will probably grow up and be successful in the construction field?
With all his huffing and puffing, would you say the Big Bad Wolf was clearly not a smoker?

Kellie, that sounds like Active Physics, a book by Arthur Eisenkraft of UMass Boston. It contains projects which incorporate physics. E.g., you are a commentator at a basketball game. Include observations that explain the physics. Another one is to invent a game for astronauts to play on the Moon. Or write a manual for the track and field team that explains the principles underlying the vario...
