Collection Review on Rocks
I think this collection is great because it provides resources that will be helpful for students as well as teachers to become more familiar with the concept of rocks. It provides many ideas that can be altered and used throughout all of the elementary grade levels. I really like the journal article, The Early Years: Rocks Tell a Story because it provides many hands-on activities that will help students explore their learning, leading them to understanding the concept. The hands-on activities will help students experience how rocks are formed, which will keep them interested in learning more about the topic. I also really like the book chapter, Rocks and Soils, because it also provides teachers with many hands-on activities that they can use with their students. I think it’s great because it starts off with activities that are more basic that will introduce the students to the topic and then it progresses to activities that are more detailed. Overall, I think this collection is put together very well because it provides resources that will help teachers facilitate student learning, getting the students interested in the topic of rocks.
