40 Inquiry Exercises for the College Biology Lab

Great labs, but need lots of equipment
I am an adjunct professor at a community college. We don't have an official lab manual and I was looking to supplement the few labs that we have. This book is very well-written and I like that there are both student and teacher pages. The labs seem thorough and I like that the teacher pages let you know what the goal of the lab is and have outcomes. I don't like when a lab was clearly written with the author knowing the desired take-away for the students but it isn't communicated to the reader. So, in that respect this manual is great. My problem with the book is that it doesn't tell you up front that the labs were done, in most cases, with equipment that just isn't common in a community college type lab. It would be great if the description told you up front what you needed in order to complete the labs. Because it doesn't matter how well written the lab is, if I am missing the equipment then I can' use the lab manual. There is a well-written stream lab that I will use but I would say that my overall impression is that these labs are for the junior-senior level at a well-equipped 4-year college.
