For kindergarten, I once titled my animal lesson "Zoology" I taught my lesson that animals are put into categories/groups. ~ Vertebrates and Invertebrates ~ I begin with vertebrates and share that these animals have bones and show a sample bone structure. I too did the food safety sci-pack. I tied it into a health lesson and used this lesson from http://www.dineforlife.org/resources/Elementary_School_Lesso...-2013.pdf. I modified it and made it fit my specific standards for Jr. Kindergarten.

On Kauai, the bird being addressed are the shearwaters. Our island no longer has Friday Night football games, the lights are too bright for the birds and they get lost by the lights. Wash your Hands

Loved this Sci Guide more than I initially thought I would. I was able to focus on teaching the 4 C's with the help of the lesson plan and vignettes that are clearly written out step by step in the Sci Guide. Used the songs provided from http://foodsafe.ucdavis.edu/html/audio/you_better_wash_your_hands.html. My students enjoyed having fun songs that I paired hand and body motions to. There were other songs that I was able to incorporate into a piece of my assessment for the learning that I tied into my health standards.

Sci Guide Info

The Sci Guide informational video was very easy to follow and take notes. I used both linguistic and non-linguistic note taking when watching this video guide. The lesson resources are valuable and easy to understand how to use each function in its proper design to implement in a teaching lesson. Additional resources such as media options is another tool that is presented in the sci guide videos. Student sample work gives a clear visual on what to expect when using suggested writing materials or worksheets. All web pages are printable, including the sci guides.
