I love the idea of having a garden!! I am a preservice teacher here in Ohio, and we have a garden on campus that we get to work with! You could look into some plants that grow very quickly (like radishes or spinich) to grow in the fall, then start the larger garden in the spring! I really enjoyed this article!! I 100% agree that playing while learning is an excellent way for children to expand their senses and thinking while truly building deep understandings of concepts. Play is important business to children, so why not harness that excitment and focus for learning.

I LOVE the idea of using fairy tales and STEM. This would be an excellent way to bring fairy tales to life! A lot of fairy tales have things that students could design and build themselves--I'm thinking about a "how to build the tallest Rapunzel tower" activity in my future.
