My primary teaching experience is in middle school in the areas of life and earth science. I have completed extensive graduate work in Instructional Design and love to create my own curriculum materials. In addition, I will complete my Master's degree in Geoscience from Mississippi State University next summer.

Great refresher!

I've always used science notebooks, but having left the science classroom for a couple of years I wanted to make sure I got the most out of them this year. I loved the simple rubric and the left/right approach to input/output.

Good guidelines

Good suggestions for basic use in the classroom are given. I especially liked the idea of allowing "open notebook" quizzes as a way of holding students accountable for their notebooks without having to take them up to grade them. Several other good suggestions are made in this chapter, including the use of student-friendly rubrics.

Excellent way to incorporate science into art.

While I think this project would be too lengthy for the regular classroom, it does provide an ideal way for art teachers to pull science content into their curriculum. I also appreciated the detailed rubric and the leveled titles.
