I like having 3rd grade students choose from among spherical objects of various sizes and colors (marbles, ice cream sprinkles, balls, BBs, balloons, etc.) to build their own solar system models. To help you with a project launch, I need to know a bit more about your project. What is your driving question? What standards to you plan to address through the project? A great website for project ideas is the Buck Institute for Education. You can search for project ideas by grade level and subject area. Perhaps some of these ideas will help with your launch.
