Learning Genetics with Paper Pets

Paper pets rule!
I thought this was a very creative and useful lesson on genetics and evolution's adaptations. I love genetics and remember from my earlier school years doing fun projects to learn about genetics. We never did anything this fun though! I think the paper pets are useful tools because you can see changes through several generations and how dominant and recessive traits carry through those generations. I thought the take on evolution and adaptation was brilliant. Placing paper pets in different habitats to see then what traits take over was really interesting. I can see why her students were so invested in this project. I feel like this project was an excellent example of teaching core concepts instead of just procedures.
