Hi Nicole, I completely agree that safety is a priority in the classroom. With different chemicals, substances, etc., accidents are bound to happen. But showing students how to take preventative measures or how to act when an accident happens, is something very important. Going over details throughly is a way to go before every lab or activity. Better safe than sorry!

Review of the article / activity

This lesson / activity is a great way for students to integrate STEM knowledge to construct a model of Earth's natural filtration system. The article provided good questions to ask students to get them thinking about the concept. However, I would like to have seen more information as to what materials will be effective and appropriate with different age levels and more information as to why it is important.

Review of the activity

This activity is a great, fun, easy activity that teachers can conduct in the classroom AND students can even take it home and try it out as well. The extension activity also was a great idea to let students apply science to create a great bouquet of flowers at home too. I like how the article includes background information as to how and why water is able to travel up plants and such, which is good for parents and students to be able to understand when they are trying it out at home.
