Inquiry Collection

This collection does an excellent job of describing inquiry and its importance in a science classroom. The Simplifying Inquiry Instruction article in particular was a great article to read for beginning science teachers. The article begins by introducing the idea of inquiry which clarifies the term. One of the main points of the article was to identify inquiry as answering questions through the use of data analysis. The article also later breaks down the levels of inquiry which vary in respect to the roles of the teachers and students in the lesson. As young educators in the field of science, I think inquiry is very effective because it allows students to practice critical thinking, connecting main ideas, and coming up with alternative solutions when an expected result does not occur. The articles use of tables and headings allows the reader to feel organized while reading. I believe that any beginning science teacher would find this collection of articles covering inquiry's main ideas very useful when lesson planning.
