With over 30 years of experience in education, I earned my undergrad degree from Iowa State University in 1982, then earned my graduate degree from National Louis University in 1997. Since 1991, I've been teaching at a public school in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago, with an enrollment of approximately 300+ students. In November 2012, I earned National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Science and was then named Educator of the Year by the Westmont Chamber of Commerce. In spring 2013, I received a STEM grant from DuPage Regional Office of Education to facilitate a STEM after-school program for underrepresented students. On multiple occasions, I have presented professionally throughout DuPage County and the state of Illinois. My passion for education carried over into summer 2014 when I was an instructor for enrichment courses through Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development. During 2017-2018, I served as Chair of NSTA's Science Scope Advisory Board.
