I think this is a great topic. It's true that we find so many ways to get parents involved in other disciplines, but not science as much. I think it might be a great idea to reach out to any parents who may be involved in a science field and have them come in and give a presentation for students. In both of my teaching assignments, students have science in the afternoon. I personally think it is a great way to end the day because science should be hands on and engaging. In my fifth grade placement, all the lessons are hands on labs and its a fun way for the students to end the day.
