There are a few ways you could use mathematical concepts such as sine functions and waves to model how the earths movement alters the length of day and night. This could be a great science--math lesson that would put trigonometry in context and help explain a natural phenomenon. I would be happy to help develop such a lesson, just let me know....

There are some really great ideas posted here already! Ecology is such a broad topic that it can be difficult to pick a representative lesson or project. I am developing a model to teach animal adaptation that will explore how different beak lengths in birds influence the force that they can apply to their food.
