I was blessed to have a CT that told me it I have the right to implement the same consequences as she does, the clip chart for instance. I have seen how powerful a smile can be. Simply greeting the students as they enter the classroom and asking them how they are can really start the day off great! You must also remember you must stay assertive though, but kind at the same time!

I am currently a student teacher, but what I have seen in the classroom is assigned homework for everyday of the week except Friday. The homework is checked for a completion grade, but then I go and grade the homework for the student. I have realized this is done because some parents do the homework for the students, or give them the answers.
