Review:
This was an excellent collection; I enjoyed a lot the articles attached. They all had powerful messages and had multiple sources of information regarding how to be an amazing and successful teacher. Many of them if not all, were based on experiences of teachers that have shared throughout the past key elements that have worked for them in their classroom. One of my favorite articles attached in this collection is “Team Teaching Science” which relates to the characteristics of elementary learners, the focus on learning to read, the scope of the elementary science curriculum, and how co-teaching may be done in the elementary classroom. It also shares many of the challenges of team teaching that teachers address such as communication, content knowledge, and joint instruction. ”Methods and Strategies: “Inquirize” Your Teaching” was another article that I enjoyed reading. This article presents the basic elements of inquiry which include: ask a question, conduct an investigation, make observations/collect data, use data to develop an explanation, and communicate results. Afterwards, it talks about the 5E learning cycle model which is extremely useful when designing lessons that include the above inquiry abilities. It then goes into depth about the five phases which are engage, explore, explain, extend, and evaluate and describes how to “inquirize” a demonstration activity with these steps/phases that can be applied to any activity.
