I have used the PhET simulations. It is not life science but is valuable, challenging and very entertaining for the students. I will try to check out some of the sites suggested and will be on the look out for more. We use some simulations from the SMART exchange.

We are very lucky in our area of Kentucky. Our Fish and Wildlife folks come to our classrooms to teach many concepts. They bring the materials and teach the class. Our most recent visit they brought in a stream table and demonstrated runoff and how the streams and wildlife are affected if not protected.

We started a native area in our courtyard about 5 years ago. We spread the seeds around -- however the wind and birds attacked the next day. We did not see any of the grasses or flowers grow in the middle of the courtyard for two years. However, our test plots on the sides are thriving. They have continued to grow.
