Kelly Kaleta received her Geology BS degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and her MS in Geoscience from Pennsylvania State University. Kelly worked for eight years as a reservoir geologist for various oil and gas companies in the Houston-area before transitioning back to academia. In 2014, Kelly received her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (with an emphasis on secondary science education) from the University of Houston-Victoria. She currently teaches full-time at Westside High School (Earth and Space Science, and Pre-AP Biology), and also serves as adjunct faculty at Houston Community College, teaching Environmental Science and Oceanography. Kelly is a recent NSF Geoneeds Fellow and participated in the Earth Science Educator's Rendezvous in Madison, WI. This past summer, she also served as a NCAS Instructional Assistant, helping provide support and feedback to community college aerospace scholars.
