We currently have a Beta fish in our classroom! The kids love having it because it gives them responsibility; when they're going to feed it, how to clean the tank, etc. Its great!

YES! I think a Science Safety Contract is a great tool to use at the beginning of the year. Going over the safety rules will help prevent (hopefully) any accidents in the lab or the classroom. I remember "signing" safety contracts back when I was in elementary-high school and should still be implemented to this day!

My field placement school here in Houston currently uses the Smartboard as an interactive technology that can be integrated in science lessons for younger grades. My cooperating teacher uses this website: http://exchange.smarttech.com/search.html?q=%22science%22 where you can find great Smartboard activities (not only for Science) but for other subjects as well.
