Upper and lower elementary moon differentiation!

I appreciated that this chapter had different ideas for K-2 and 3-5 for teaching students about the moon, while not sacrificing content! I love the idea of trying out a moon journal in lower elementary and pairing the project with a well-selected trade book.

"Self Shadow" is a helpful explanation!

I thought that the concept of a self shadow was a really helpful way to think about the moon's phases for both students and adults! Both of the demonstrations in this article seem engaging and well-prepared as far as their ability to address misconceptions about the moon's phases.
